committee update

The TFC Technology committee is hard at work developing a new and improved website with up-to-date information. We have held two Technology planning meetings in October so far to discuss the website’s new look, new content, blog function, and overall usability in an effort to keep existing members, potential members and curious onlookers informed about the progress being made on the Tacoma Food Co-op project.

Our aim is to have the new website launched and accessible to you in January 2010 athttp://www.tacomafoodcoop.com .

Thank you to all the vendors, volunteers, musicians, members and Tacoma Food Cooperative supporters that made it out to our 2nd Annual Summer Benefit in Wright Park on August 29th. We increased our # of member-owners by 10% the day of the event - we now have over 230 Tacoma Food Co-Op members. The talents of Josh Rizeberg, Out-of-Sight Out-of-Mind, Siderailers, and Novemthree were enjoyed by the crowd. Attendees heard encouraging words from our friends at The Central Co-op at Madison Market of Seattle. And the Co-Op made a special announcement about a proposal from The Neighborhood Market to house the co-op at their location on 6th Ave. Thanks again to the Events Committee and the 30+ volunteers who made the whole thing possible!

The co-op will be holding its first-ever annual meeting and election for the Board of Directors on Monday, October 5th, from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Evergreen College Tacoma Campus (1210 6th Ave.). There is a potluck dinner that begins at 6:00 pm. All are welcome.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

6:00 - 6:30 -- Potluck Gathering

6:30 - 6:45 -- Report on Financial State of the Co-Op

6:45 - 7:30 -- Presentation on Feasibility of Co-Locating with The Neighborhood Market, Q&A and Vote

7:30 - 8:00 -- Board of Directors Candidate Statements and Elections

8:00 - 8:30 -- General Discussion

This is a great opportunity to see the inner-workings of a cooperative. We hope you can join us.
